What is Hypnotherapy?
It is the Art and Practice of drawing upon deeper states of relaxation to transform your subconscious mind’s response to things. While our conscious mind may have certain purposes and goals in mind, our subconscious exerts a powerful underlying force in our lives, and working to transform at the level of the subconscious allows positive change to naturally come about.
Can everyone be hypnotized?
Most all people can be hypnotized enough to allow effective transformative processes to unfold and to change their lives.
What is the state of Hypnosis that Hypnotherapy uses?
Hypnotherapy can be highly effective in a range of states. Even a skillful conversation with good rapport guided by a wise, caring and experienced hypnotherapist can be life-changing.
Everything from relaxation while listening to and understanding empowering suggestions, to deeper trance states can also be highly transformative.
Note: The most famous and legendary hypnotherapist in the United States, Milton Erikson, rarely if ever used deep trance work and yet his work profoundly transformed clients with a multitude of challenging issues.
Rest assured whether you naturally gravitate to light or deeper trance states, the process can be amazingly effective for a range of issues.

What can I expect in a Hypnotherapy session?
In a safe and supportive atmosphere we converse first:
We begin with time for you to share about your issues that you are seeking help for, and to identify your overall history and recent experiences related to them.
You clarify your goals vis a vis these issues and in your life in general.
Also, we take time for you to identify your strengths, as well.
I will be taking some notes as we talk, from which to create a “map” for the hypnotherapy part of your session that is tailored uniquely to you.
I discover from you what experiences and states naturally bring you relaxation, and I explain the process, which involves a comfortable position, and increasing relaxation, to allow for hypnotherapeutic suggestions to take hold.
Will I feel out of control?
No. Really what we are doing is guided self-hypnosis. You will not experience anything or do anything that you do not wish to.
Some people thrive on autonomy and if you are one, to you I say, “Rest assured this is your Journey. I am simply there as a support and guide.”
Others need a greater sense of support and presence, to relax into the process. And If you are one of them, to you I say, “I am here with you every step of the way. Though it is your journey, I am always here as your guide and as a supportive presence.”
What about pacing? And communication during the process?
Rest assured the pace is your pace. You will always have the voice tone and muscle quality to speak if you need to and still stay deeply relaxed.
Or you may prefer to use simple finger signals to answer yes and no questions easily and we can identify what feels right to you.
In some types of hypnotherapy you likely may not need to communicate at all during the process. With hypnotherapy related to regression work and some other approaches, communication during the process can be helpful,
I am glad to record the hypnotherapy for you to listen to for re-enforcement at home. Most people have smartphones with recording devices on them. Or I can record that part of our session and email it to you as an audio file to listen to later.
